About

About Me

I build engineering teams, and the systems they run, so that neither breaks under growth.

Story

My Story

Great engineering starts with people. Over the last decade I have built and scaled teams across the US and Europe, at Zendesk, Dutchie, and now Hivenet.

I started as an engineer obsessed with distributed systems. The lesson that changed my career: the hardest scaling problems are organizational, not technical. A service handling 10M+ requests a day is an easier problem than nine teams shipping in the same direction.

So that is the work now. Helping engineers grow into leaders. Building cultures where people can say “I don’t know” out loud. Making architecture decisions that trade correctly between velocity and reliability. The measure is always the same: did the team get faster, and did the system stay up.

Values

Leadership Values

People First

Great systems are built by great teams. I prioritize psychological safety, clear communication, and creating environments where engineers can do their best work.

Sustainable Velocity

Speed matters, but not at the cost of quality or team health. I build processes that deliver every week, not heroics that deliver once.

Mentorship & Growth

Every engineer deserves a clear path for growth. I invest time in coaching, feedback, and creating opportunities for team members to develop their skills.

Technical Excellence

Fundamentals compound. Code quality, deliberate system design, and architecture decisions made for the company you will be in two years, not the demo next week.

Now

Current Focus

As Head of Engineering at hivenet.com I lead 9 teams and 30+ engineers, moving product development toward a leaner, AI-first delivery model while hardening the platform for enterprise customers.

The work sits at the intersection of agentic AI and engineering culture: multi-agent workflows and evaluation harnesses reliable enough for real users, AI-assisted development as the default for every team, enterprise-grade compliance and reliability, and the measurement foundation (DORA metrics) that tells us whether any of it is working.

Outside the day job I write the Bear Essentials newsletter, speak about distributed teams and AI adoption, and mentor engineers moving into leadership.

Mentorship

Mentorship & Professional Network

I mentor a small number of engineers on leadership, team building, and career moves. Book a session on MentorCruise or reach out on LinkedIn.

Off the Clock

Beyond Engineering

Off the clock I am exploring Sardinia’s coastline, experimenting with new tech, or at a long table with family, good food, and better wine. Based in Cagliari; my teams have never all been in one room, and it has never mattered.
